No Board Exams For Classes 5, 8, 9 And 11 In Karnataka: Govt

The Karnataka government has announced that there will be no board exam for Classes 5, 8, 9, and 11.

The Karnataka government has released an order to conduct annual examinations for Classes 5, 8, 9, and Class 11 (first PUC) for the academic year 2023-24. These annual exams will be conducted for students in schools and colleges using the state board curriculum. However, only students in Class 10 and Class 12 will appear for the board exams. This decision is part of the government's effort to maintain academic assessments and standards for students in various classes. The Karnataka State Examination and Assessment Board introduced annual exams for Class 5 and Class 8 last year, and these exams will continue for the remainder of the current academic year.

The board has updated the exam patterns for these classes. Additionally, the Karnataka education department recently announced a three-board exam regulation, allowing students to consider their best performance out of three board examinations as their final performance. This reform provides students with more opportunities to improve their board exam scores. Previously, if a student was dissatisfied with the grades in any subject after the second PUC exam, they could opt to retake the supplementary exam to improve their marks.
