Amid the ongoing controversy over the NEET paper leak, it has been revealed that the question paper was leaked from an examination centre in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh, sources told ABP News.

The information has been revealed on the basis of the pieces of the burnt question papers, which were found during raids in Patna, the sources said.

The information regarding the leak was provided to the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday ruled out cancellation of NEET for now saying cannot jeopardise careers of lakhs of students who cleared the exam rightfully because of isolated incidents of malpractices.

Meanwhile, the NEET-UG retest for 1,563 candidates will be held on Sunday with NTA and Union education ministry officials present at the examination centres, a senior NTA official said earlier today.

The retest for the medical entrance exam is being conducted after the agency withdrew grace marks awarded to students who were compensated for loss of time due to delay in start of examination at six centres in Meghalaya, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Chandigarh.

NEET-UG 2024, conducted by the NTA, took place at 4,750 centres in 571 cities in which more than 24 lakh aspirants participated. The results were declared on June 4.

However, immediately after the results were announced, students raised allegations of irregularities when 67 students achieved top scores, amidst claims of question paper leaks in Bihar. There have been allegations of question paper leaks in states such as Bihar and other irregularities in the exam. The allegations have led to protests in several cities and the filing of petitions in several high courts as well as the Supreme Court.
