Background

NEET Results 2020 Shortly HIGHLIGHTS: The National Testing Agency NTA will declare the much awaited results for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 anytime now at its official website ntaneet.nic.in. Due to massive surge in students checking whether or not the scorecard has been released, the official website has crashed. It is likely to be restored soon.  The result is being declared today following a Supreme Court order. The result will include scores of both the September 13 which was NEET 2020 phase 1 exam or the first attempt and November 14 attempt which was the phase 2 exam for all those who missed the test on the previous date due to Covid-19 symptoms or containment zone issue leading to problems in reaching the exam centre.  It is to be noted that in NEET those students who have secured above 50 percentile are considered successful, however, seats in colleges are allotted on merit-based counseling. As per reports, in phase 2 of the NEET 2020 exam, the questions from physics were difficult this time, however, in chemistry and biology, questions were easier compared to phase 1 of NEET 2020 exam.

The NEET exam was held on September 13 across the country and a re-test was taken for those who could not attend the exam on November 14 after SC order.

According to the National Testing Agency, nearly 88 per cent of 15.97 lakh students, who had registered, took the exam.

The Supreme Court on Monday allowed students who could not take the NEET exam earlier, either being Covid-19 positive or affected by restrictions imposed to contain the outbreak of viral infection, to appear for the exam once again, on October 14.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde with Justices A.S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian said: "In view of the circumstances which have necessitated postponement of the examination in the past and in view of the prevailing circumstances, we consider it appropriate to grant permission to the National Testing Agency to conduct a second part of the NEET (UG) 2019 for the Covid-affected students and for those in containment zones on October 14. The result may be declared on October 16."
