NEET PG 2024: SC To Hear Petition Seeking Disclosure Of Answer Keys, Transparency Tomorrow

The Supreme Court will resume hearing on Friday a petition seeking disclosure of answer keys and question papers of the NEET-PG 2024 exam along with other measures to ensure increased transparency.

The Supreme Court will resume hearing on Friday a petition seeking disclosure of answer keys and question papers of the NEET-PG 2024 exam along with other measures to ensure increased transparency.

On September 13, the Supreme Court had sought response from the National Board of Education (NBE) to the plea filed by NEET-PG aspirants.

The bench led by CJI DY Chandrachud comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra agreed to consider the matter and issued notice to NBE.

In the previous hearing, the counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted in the court that the NBE has not released either the question papers or the answer keys, and without knowing the correct answers, the candidates will not be able to assess their performances in a transparent way. The counsel further added that when the scorecard was released, it did not tally accurately for many candidates.

The petitioners have raised issues of lack of transparency and arbitrary last-minute changes in the conduct of the NEET-PG Exam.

They have contended that the exam format was changed just one month before the scheduled date and the exam was conducted in two shifts, with separate papers for each shift which is against NBE's guidelines of having one common examination.

Notably, before the exam, students were demanding that the exam be conducted in a single shift. Now, after the results have been declared, students have raised concerns about the normalisation process.

NEET PG 2024 exam was conducted by the NBEMS across 416 centers in 170 cities. The students who qualify the examination will have the opportunity to secure admission to 26,168 Doctor of Medicine (MD), 13,649 Master of Surgery (MS), 922 PG Diploma, and 1,338 DNB CET seats.

NEET PG is an entrance exam conducted every year in a computer-based format for admission to various MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery), and PG Diploma courses across India.
