NEET Paper Leak Case: CBI Arrests Two For Stealing And Distributing The Paper

CBI has arrested two more persons in the ongoing NEET paper leak case, with arrests made in Patna and Hazaribagh.

NEET UG Paper Leak Case: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two more people in connection with the NEET paper leak case. The arrests took place in Patna and Hazaribagh. Pankaj Singh, also known as Aditya, was arrested in Patna. According to CBI sources, Singh, who has a degree in civil engineering, allegedly stole the exam papers from a trunk, which were later leaked. In Hazaribagh, another suspect, Raju, was arrested. He is accused of distributing the leaked exam papers.

Additionally, on July 12, the CBI obtained custody of 13 other suspects, including Rocky, also known as Rakesh Ranjan, the kingpin of the operation, from Bihar.

The 13 individuals sent to CBI custody include Nitish Kumar, Akhilesh Kumar, Sikandar Prasad Yadvendu, Ayush Kumar, Bittu Kumar, Amit Anand, Ashutosh Kumar, Roshan Kumar, Anurag Yadav, Abhishek Kumar, Awdesh Kumar, Shivnandan Kumar, and Reena Kumari. 

Several other suspects are already in CBI custody, including the principal of Hazaribagh Oasis School, Ahsanul Haque, and the vice principal, Imtiaz Alam. A Hindi newspaper journalist, Jamaluddin, who allegedly assisted on the day of the exam, is also in custody. Additionally, Aman Singh, who was arrested in Dhanbad, has been taken into CBI custody.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will hear the NEET paper leak case on July 18. The Chief Justice of India (CJI) directed all counsels for petitioners seeking a NEET UG 2024 re-test to file a common set of submissions not exceeding 10 pages, emphasizing that a retest would be considered a "last resort."

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG), conducted by the NTA, is the entrance exam for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country.
