MP Government Extends Summer Vacation In Schools Due To Heatwave

Madhya Pradesh government has made an announcement to extend the summer vacation in the state.

The school education department of Madhya Pradesh has made an announcement to extend the summer vacation due to the prevailing heatwave conditions, as informed by Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar. While classes for primary students will resume on July 1, classes for students from 6th to 12th grade will commence on June 20. The minister also stated that classes for students from 6th to 12th grade will be conducted in the morning shift from June 20 to June 30, and all schools in the state will revert to their regular schedules from July 1. Class 5 examinations will proceed as per the original schedule, he added.

"Considering the detrimental effects of intense heat and rising temperatures on students' health, a decision has been made to extend the summer vacation. Primary schools for classes 1 to 5 will commence on July 1, 2023, while classes for students in schools from classes 6 to 12 will be held during the morning shift from June 20 to June 30. The class 5 exams will proceed according to the predetermined timetable. Starting from July 1, 2023, all schools will follow their regular timetables," said Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar.

Previously, the scheduled reopening of schools in Madhya Pradesh was set for June 20. However, due to the extreme heat and unexpected increase in temperature, the government decided to extend the summer vacation until June 19. Initially, schools were slated to be closed until June 15. The declaration of the summer vacation was made, granting students a break until June 15, 2023.
