JEE-Main Exams 2020: Candidates Start Arriving At Centres With Masks, Gloves & Other Covid-19 Precautions

JEE Exams 2020 Exams Begin: Despite the backlash from students, the NTA has started the JEE exams from today. Various safety measures such as maintaining social distancing and sanitisation are being used at the exams centres.

JEE Main 2020: After months of delay caused due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main 2020 have started from today. Even though lakhs of students, parents, and politicians had demanded the postponement of the exams due to the rapidly increasing coronavirus cases in the country, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the education ministry had confirmed that there will be no further delay in the exams. Various precautionary measures are being used at the centres. Social distancing was maintained by marking spaces on the ground and the temperature of candidates was checked on arrival.Constant sanitation is also being done at the centres. "I am carrying my own sanitiser and I had also undergone a full body checkup,"said Pranjal, who arrived for the exams at Arwachin Bharti Bhawan Sr Sec School in Vivek Vihar, New Delhi in a tweet by ANI. This included Masks and Sanitizers & Masks To Be Provided at the centre: Fesh 3 Ply mask before entry. The candidate is expected to wear the freshly provided mask at the centre. Besides masks, the government has also ensured the availability of Hand Sanitizers at various locations in the exam centre. Thermal Screening: At time of entry, body temperature of staff, invigilators and students will be checked using Thermo Guns. In case, any staff person and candidate is observed to be having above normal temperature or displaying any symptom of COVID-19 suspect, they will be placed in separate Isolation Room. Candidates will be allowed to write their exam in isolation rooms. Touch-Free Functioning: Frisking through Handheld Metal Detector (HHMD) will be carried out without touching body. Rough sheets will be kept at all desks before start of exam by invigilators wearing gloves to ensure hygiene. Free Transport In Odisha: The Odisha Chief Secretary AK Tripathy on Friday announced that all candidates who are appearing for the JEE Main and NEET 2020 in the month of September, will be provided with free-of-cost transport and accommodation to reduce the difficulties amid coronavirus pandemic. It is expected that Around 8.67 lakh candidates who have registered for the entrance exam are likely to appear for the test. The exams are taking place at a time when India is recording a massive spike in daily Covid 19 cases. Several states had also opposed the exams due to the worsening conditions. Just days before the exams, six ministers from West Bengal (Moloy Ghatak), Jharkhand (Rameshwar Oraon), Rajasthan (Raghu Sharma), Chhattisgarh (Amarjeet Bhagat), Punjab (B S Sidhu) and Maharashtra (Uday Ravindra Sawant) had moved the Supreme Court seeking review of its order permitting Centre to conduct NEET, JEE exams this year.
