Interview: CUET Topper Palak Agarwal Shares What Was Her Primary Challenge And How She Overcame It

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) result was declared on Saturday.

Palak Agarwal, an 18-year-old student from Shikohabad, Uttar Pradesh, has achieved an exceptional feat by attaining 100 percentile in six out of seven subjects in the CUET UG 2023. The result of the 2023 Common University Entrance Test (CUET) was declared on Saturday. Speaking to ABP Live, Palak said she would study 10 hours every day, and relied on mock tests for her preparation for the test.

In response to her daughter's accomplishment, Palak's mother expressed immense pride and joy. "We are incredibly proud of our daughter's outstanding achievement in securing the top position in CUET. Her commitment, determination, and focused approach towards her studies have been very inspiring," she said.

In her interview to ABP Live, Palak shared her journey, and also some tips for future aspirants. Edited excerpts:

Q1) How did you prepare for the entrance test?

A: I practised a focused study strategy, limiting my study resources and dedicated substantial time to revise the NCERT textbooks, as they formed the basis for the exam questions. I dedicated around 10 hours each day to studying, with an emphasis on revision and attempting mock tests, which played a pivotal role in my preparation. Mock tests were a useful resource to simulate the exam environment and evaluate my strengths and areas for improvement.

Q2) Any difficulty faced during preparation?

A: One of the primary challenges was the preparation of the English language section. Since there was no specific syllabus for English, determining the areas to focus on was difficult. However, I devoted a substantial amount of time to prepare for the language section, assuring a thorough understanding of grammar rules, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. With constant practice and diverse resources, I was able to overcome this difficulty.

Q3) What's next? What do you want to do after CUET?

A: After achieving success in the CUET, I aim to pursue my desired course (Political Science Honours) at Hindu College, DU. I am keen to further enhance my knowledge and proficiency in my desired field of study.
I also want to energetically partake in research opportunities, internships, and extracurricular activities that align with my academic and career objectives.

Q4) Any tips for aspirants who are going to appear next year?

A: For aspirants appearing in the CUET next year, my recommendation would be to emphasise on the clarity of concepts. Concentrate on comprehending the core concepts of each subject and cultivate a strong foundation.

Furthermore, attempt as many practice papers and mock tests as possible to accustom yourself to the exam pattern and enhance your time management skills.  Lastly, design a balanced study routine, take frequent breaks, and stay motivated.
