IIT Kanpur Celebrates 57th Convocation, Degrees Awarded To 2,332 Students

IIT Kanpur: The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kanpur celebrated its 57th convocation ceremony, today, June 29, 2024. The convocation included 2,332 graduates from various fields.

IIT Kanpur: The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kanpur celebrated its 57th convocation ceremony, today, June 29, 2024. The convocation included 2,332 graduates from various fields. This includes 226 PhDs, 457 MTechs, 842 BTechs, 165 two-year MScs, 36 MBAs, 12 MTech-PhDs, 1 MDes, 17 MDes degrees, 77 MS (by research), 40 PGPEX-VLFMs, 26 Double Majors, 89 Dual Degrees, 14 MS-PDs (part of Dual Degrees), 125 BS degrees, and 205 eMasters degrees.

Established in 1959, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is one of the most prestigious institutes founded by the Indian government. It offers a wide range of courses in five different areas at the Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral levels. According to the NIRF Ranking 2023, IIT Kanpur is ranked 4th in the Engineering category.

Furthermore, Prof. Jayathi Y. Murthy, the Chief Guest, gave awards and prizes to top achievers. She earned her BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and was honored as a Distinguished Alumna in 2012. She made history as the first woman of color to become the leader of Oregon State University. She's highly respected in engineering education and is known for promoting diversity, fairness, and inclusivity.

Led by the Chairperson, Senate Post-Graduate Committee (SPGC) and the Chairperson, Senate Under-Graduate Committee (SUGC), graduating students received their degree certificates in separate lecture halls during the second part of the Convocation ceremony. These students can also obtain their digital degrees using IIT Kanpur’s own blockchain technology application. This technology ensures that their degree certificates are protected and can be disclosed selectively.
