IIT-JEE Aspirant From Bihar Hangs Self In Kota In 4th Suicide This Month

In yet another suicide incident form Kota Rajasthan, another IIT-JEE aspirant, this time from Bihar has ended his life by hanging self. Hailing from Bihar’s Gaya, the 18-year-old was found hanging in his PG room. The incident surfaced yesterday (August 15) night, following which the local police arrived at the spot and moved the dead body to the mortuary of New Medical College Hospital (NMCH) where the post-mortem of the boy is to be conducted following the arrival of his parents.

Identified as Valmiki Prasad, the deceased student taking IIT-JEE coaching classes at a coaching institute in Kota since last academic session. He was living in a PG near Mahaveer Nagar area of the city. The teen allegedly hanged himself to an iron angle of his PG room door, ending his life sometime on Tuesday, news agency PTI reported circle inspector at Mahaveer Nagar Police Station, Paramjeet Patel as saying. The boy was last seen on Monday evening, the inspector was further reported as saying. 

The circle inspector further said that the incident of the student’s death surfaced on Tuesday night around 08:00 PM. The dead-body was later recovered from the PG room and placed at the NMCH mortuary for post-mortem, after the arrival of his parents. He further said that although no suicide note has been found inside the boys room, the reasons behind his extreme step are being investigated. 

Notably, the death of Valmiki Prasad is the fourth such case of suicide by IIT-JEE aspirants in Kota this month. Earlier this month, a total of three students, two IIT-JEE and one NEET aspirant ended their lives by committing suicide. The total tally of suicides by aspirants and studnets in Kota this year now sits at 20, surpassing the count of 15 last year.
