IIM CAT 2021: New Guidelines Issued, Minimum Marks Eligibility Criteria Removed

IIM CAT 2021: IIM Ahmedabad has changed the eligibility criteria for the common admission test 2021 and removed the minimum percentage criteria for appearing for the CAT 2021 exam.

IIM CAT 2021: IIM Ahmedabad has changed the eligibility criteria for the common admission test 2021. At the same time, the CAT Committee has also removed the minimum marks percentage required to appear for the exam. As per the changes made in CAT eligibility criteria by IIM Ahmedabad, candidates who have a 'Promoted/Pass' certificate, instead of 'Award of Marks' certificate in any one of the last two years of Bachelor courses can enter 'Promoted or Pass' option in the application form. This will allow the candidate to complete and submit the CAT 2021 application form. This eligibility exemption also applies to final year students who receive the 'Awards of Marks' certificate.
Let us tell you that this exception is only available to applicants who are completing their graduation this year or are in the final year of graduation (graduation years - 2021 and 2022).

Universities issue 'Promotion/ Pass' certificates
According to the institute, in the last two years, universities and colleges have changed assessment criteria for the evaluation of students due to the pandemic. It is noteworthy that the examination was not conducted this year due to the corona pandemic, and the students were promoted. Hence universities issued 'Promotion/Pass' certificates instead of 'Awards of Marks' certificates. The CAT Center received many queries from the candidates regarding their candidature due to the 'Promotion/Pass' certificate given in the last two years of their Bachelor's program. Therefore, the committee has introduced some exceptions for CAT 2021 registration.

Minimum Percentage of Marks has also been removed
Significantly, considering the various evaluation patterns adopted by various universities across the country due to the covid-19 pandemic, the CAT Committee has also removed the minimum percentage marks (45% and 50%) for appearing for the CAT 2021 examination.  The official notification says, "This announcement is applicable only on eligibility criteria for writing CAT 2021". Candidates are advised to view and follow the specific admission policy of the concerned institute.
