HP Board Result 2024: Class 12 Student Hangs Self After Failing In Board Exams

Nahan : A class 12 student allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday after failing in board exams in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, police said. Rohit Chauhan (18) hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his home in Surajpur village in Paonta, as reported by news agency PTI. He studied in a government school in Puruwala, they said. Paonta DSP Aditi Singh said a preliminary enquiry has revealed that Rohit failed for the second time in class 12 board exams and was under stress. The student was rushed to Paonta Civil Hospital where doctors declared him dead, the police said, adding that the body has been sent for post-mortem. A case in this regard has been registered and investigations are underway, they said. 

The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) declared the class 12 result on April 29, 2024.  Himachal Pradesh HPBOSE board students can check their marks on hpbose.org by using their roll numbers.

A total of 85,777 students participated in the Himachal Pradesh board class 12th exam, out of which 63,092 students have passed. The overall pass percentage in HP board class 12 stands at 73.76%. Kamakshi Sharma and Chhaya Chauhan have topped the Science stream with 98.80 percent marks. Both of the students have secured 494 out of 500 marks.

In Arts, Arshita has topped by scoring 98% marks. She has scored 490 marks out of 500. Meanwhile, Swapan Kumar has topped the Commerce stream. He has scored 490 out of 500 marks.

This year, a total of 41 students have secured positions in the top ten merit lists across the Science, Arts, and Commerce streams combined. In the previous year, the class 12 exams were taken by 1,05,369 students. Out of these, 83,418 students successfully passed the exams, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 79.4%.
