How Built Environment courses can help you excel in real estate, construction industry
Over the last few years, Indian educational landscape has witnessed a paradigm shift in the infusion of dynamic developmental courses.
Inclusion of emerging technologies has shaped the structure of the education sector in India over the past decade. Introduction of artificial intelligence, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), cognitive science, etc. has disrupted the educational boundaries and accelerated its growth potential. Over the last few years, Indian educational landscape has witnessed a paradigm shift in the infusion of dynamic developmental courses within a field for ambitious advantage. One such hotbed and most talked about course is Built Environment (BE).
Built environment refers to the human-made surroundings which provide the setting for human activities such as buildings and parks or green space to neighborhoods and cities that can often include their supporting infrastructure. The built environment is a material, spatial and cultural product of human labor that combines physical elements and energy in forms for living, working and playing.
Going by the definition, built environment is nothing but a human-made space in which people live, work, and recreate on a day-to-day basis. Over the past few years, public health research has expanded the definition of ‘built environment’ to include healthy food access, community gardens and much more.
Despite the industry continues to use some archaic acquirement models, few emerging technologies are improving built environment industry by expanding its efficiencies and opportunities across the life-cycle.
Taking the growth of the industry one step further, RICS School of Built Environment in association with Amity University has been playing the role of a game changer in the industry with ‘Construction Project Management programme’, providing a strong call from the industry and emerging technologies in the built environment sector.
RICS is the global professional body promoting and enforcing the highest international standards in the valuation, management and development of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure. RICS work at a cross-governmental level, delivering a single, international standard that will support a safe and vibrant marketplace in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure, for the benefit of all.
Operational since 2013, RICS helps in developing civil engineers and architecture graduates to excel in the role of a project manager, working with a team, often as a project leader. The Built Management course by RICS gives international exposure via student exchange programs with renowned universities. Students here get hands-on experience and are privy to a practice-based curriculum. The course is open to Civil Engineers and Architects.
Speaking about this positive development at RICS School of Built Environment with ABP Live, COO Ashwani Awasthi said, “We are delighted to share that our students are placed by some of the esteemed organisations in the industry. We feel proud when top-recruiters speak about the potential of our students. Our aim is to work continuously to improve the entrepreneurial and employability skills of the students”.
“We are very grateful to the companies who have shown their interest in RICS School of Built Environment and have hired the students and given them a chance to hone their skills.” he further added.
RICS also claims that it has given close to 100 per cent campus placements in MBA in Construction Economics & Quantity Surveying (CEQS). With its students bagging jobs in top notch companies in India and abroad, the highest international package in last session went as high as Rs 32 lakhs/ per annum and domestic packages were between Rs 7-8 lakhs per annum.
National and international conglomerates including Rider Levett Bucknall, AECOM, Mott MacDonald and Laing O'Rourke, GMR, Turner & Townsend and HDFC have hired students from RICS so far.
