Haryana Schools To Remain Closed Today: CM Khattar

A holiday is declared in both government and private schools of Haryana.

Haryana Government declared the holiday in both government and private schools within the state, due to the observance of Independence Day festivities. All schools in the state will remain closed. All schools, regardless of ownership, were granted an extended day off due to the Independence Day events that occurred on a Tuesday. The Haryana education department issued directives to all district education officers and district elementary education officers across the state regarding this matter.

“On the subject cited above, on account of celebrations of Independence Day on 15.08.2023, all the Government and Private Schools of the State shall remain closed on 16.08.2023," the notification said.

“You are requested to ensure strict compliance with the orders," it added.

The chief minister also conveyed his belief that Haryana will outpace all other states in terms of development by 2047. On Tuesday, Khattar urged the people of Haryana to set aside social, religious, and communal divides, and to uphold unity. He said that "we view the people of the entire state as part of our extended family."

Last month, violent confrontations erupted in Haryana's Nuh district following an assault on a procession organized by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), which subsequently escalated to neighboring regions, including Gurugram. The clashes resulted in the loss of six lives, including two home guards and a cleric.

"We consider the people of the entire state our family. The day we assumed the responsibility of 'Jan Sewa' in the year 2014, our aim became to protect the interests of every Haryanvi," the chief minister said. Equal development of all citizens and areas has been the priority, he said.

Over the past nine years, Haryana has experienced a sense of unity, equitable progress, and mutual understanding, leading to substantial improvements in people's lives under the principle of 'Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek', stated the chief minister. To achieve this, the removal of obstacles in the path of development was deemed essential, he said.
