Engineers, MBAs fight for sweepers' job! 4,600 B.Tech, MBA, PG applicants compete for 14 posts
the heavy rush of applicants caught the attention when the list of candidates with their details, for whom admit cards were issued, was uploaded on the government website.
Government jobs: A large number of applicants with major professional qualifications such as MBA, M.Tech, B.Tech as well as post graduates and graduates have registered themselves for 14 posts of sanitary workers in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Secretariat. As per the report by NDTV, many Diploma holders besides degree holders in the Commerce, Arts and Science streams are also in the race for the posts of sweeper.
The state Assembly Secretariat sought applications for as many as 14 posts (sweeper - 10 vacancies and sanitary worker - 4 vacancies) on September 26. Against which the secretariat received a total of 4,607 applications, including that from the Employment Exchange. Out of all, 677 applicants were rejected while the rest have fulfilled the eligibility criteria.
It was only when the list of candidates with their details, for whom admit cards were issued, was uploaded in the Tamil Nadu Government website, the heavy rush of applicants caught the attention of media. As per the report by HT, the analysts suggests that this is indicative of the not only the job crisis in Tamil Nadu, but also the lack of employment opportunities for the educated.
This surprising and shocking figure comes amid, a slugfest over job generation between the Narendra Modi government and the opposition.
Earlier, many MBAs, other post-graduates and BTechs in Uttar Pradesh were reportedly among the 1.10 lakh candidates who took up the practical examination of cleaning drains to bag jobs as contractual sweepers (safai karmcharis) with the Allahabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), reported TOI.
