GNLU Opens New Silvassa Campus: Intake For BA LLB, LLM Courses To Begin With CLAT 2023 Counselling

The Gujarat National Law University has opened its new campus in Silvassa. The new campus will offer UG as well as PG Courses from the upcoming 2023 session.

The GNLU (Gujarat National Law University) has opened its new campus in Silvassa. The new GNLU Silvassa Campus will start intaking students from the upcoming 2023 session. Candidates who have successfully registered for the CLAT 2023 Exam slated to be held on December 18, 2022, and are looking forward to admission in GNLU can update their preferences. 

The last date to update preferences with the GNLU Silvassa campus is December 17, 2022. The allotting of seats in the new campus will begin with the CLAT 2023 counselling, subject to performance of candidates, their preferences and the availability of seats.

The GNLU's new campus at Silvassa will offer programmes at the Undergraduate as well as Postgraduate level: BA LLB and LLM. The new campus will offer 66 seats in BA LLB and 33 seats in LLM programmes, in addition to 172 UG and 57 PG seats at the GNLU Main Campus in Gandhinagar. With its new Silvassa campus, the Gujarat National Law University will now offer a total of 238 UG and 90 PG seats from the 2023 session. 

However, candidates must take note of GNLU’s Domicile Policy. As per the policy, which cuts across all categories except the EWS, the university reserves 25% seats for Gujarat domicile candidates. On similar lines, the new GNLU Campus in Silvassa will offer 25% reservation to native candidates of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

Notably, the new GNLU Silvassa Campus comes following the Gujarat government’s resolution. Earlier in September this year, the Gujarat State Assembly passed two bills to amend the Gujarat Municipalities Act and Gujarat National Law University Act (GNLU Act). It was this amendment that allowed the GNLU to expand its footprint beyond the state.
