TOEFL To Be An Hour Shorter, Candidates To Get Real-Time Score Status. Check Details

The ETS has updated the TOEFL iBT Test Experience with shorter exam time, more payment options, simplified registration, better score transparency, and a dedicated service centre.

In its continuous efforts to improve the overall experience for candidates who take the iBT Test, the ETS (Educational Testing Service) has announced some key updates to the TOEFL iBT Test. The latest enhancements to the TOEFL iBT Test include a shortened overall test structure, simplified registration process, enhanced score transparency, localized benefits and a dedicated customer service centre. All the improvements to the TOEFL iBT Test shall come into effect from the upcoming TOEFL iBT session for which registrations will begin from July 16, 2023. 

According to the revised regulations, the TOEFL iBT test has been shortened by an hour now. The test will now take less than two hours to complete, earlier it was for a duration of three hours.

The instructions, as well as navigation throughout the test, shall also be more streamlined than earlier. A new and upgraded ‘Writing for an Academic Discussion’ task makes its way to the revamped TOEFL iBT Test Experience, replacing the earlier Independent Writing Task. The test will also have a shorter reading section now alongside the removal of all unscored questions. 

The New and Simplified Registration Process that makes it way with the latest TOEFL iBT updates would allow interested candidates to register and book a TOEFL iBT Test Date and Test Slot, quicker and easier than before. 

Furthermore, with an Increased Score Transparency, candidates will now be notified about their test score release date, right after the completion of their tests, besides receiving real-time updates to their score status. 

With the addition of Localized Benefits, TOEFL iBT aspirants will now be presented with their test fees in INR, right up in their cart. Moreover, the addition of several handy local payment options like global as well as local credit and debit cards, digital wallets and net banking, the TOEFL iBT Test Fee payment shall be much more seamless than before.

Finally a Dedicated TOEFL iBT Customer Service Centre shall come up immediately for indian test takers, and shall be accessible 24x7.

Those who have already registered for the TOEFL iBT test, and wish to experience the upgraded ETS Test Experience, can reschedule their test date for free. The free rescheduling of TOEFL iBT Test Dates shall be available till April 30, 2023. To aid candidates with their test preparations, revised TOEFL iBT Free Practice Test and TOEFL iBT Practice Sets are available and can be accessed through the official website. In the upcoming few days, additional sets of TOEFL iBT Free as well as Paid test prep material shall be made available on the website. 

Speaking on the latest enhancements to the TOEFL iBT Test, Amit Sevak, CEO of ETS, said, “ETS is driving the future of assessment through product innovations across education and learning, and TOEFL is core to that effort. TOEFL has been an industry standard for nearly six decades, and these enhancements further underscore its position. Most importantly, these enhancements were developed through the lens of our customers and stakeholders — because they are our highest priority to serve.”
