'Delhi University To Launch Application Portal For Admissions Very Soon' Says Vice-Chancellor

The debut edition of CUET was set to conclude on August 20, however, the exams ended on August 30, causing a delay in admissions to various courses at Delhi University.

New Delhi: The Delhi University is likely to begin its admission process soon. Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh on Wednesday said that the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal will launch soon for admission to undergraduate courses. Admissions will be based on Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores, according to a PTI report.

"We will start the CSAS portal for the aspirants very soon. The work is in progress. And we will start the admission process very soon," Singh told PTI. However, he did not give any tentative date for the portal launch.

While the debut edition of CUET was set to conclude on August 20 and the admission process to begin in the last week of the month, the exams ended on Tuesday, August 30, causing delay in admissions to various courses of Delhi University.

Admissions will be done through the CSAS -- submission of the CSAS 2022 application form, selection of programmes and filling of preferences, and seat allocation and admission. The CUET scores are required for the second phase, which will only begin once the CUET-UG 2022 results are declared.

A candidate will have to select the programmes in which they want to take admission. They will have to confirm the programme-specific CUET-UG merit score for all the selected programmes. In the third phase, seats will be allocated through a merit list.

In mid-August, Delhi University issued a notification stating that it will launch the application process for admission to undergraduate courses soon and further asked students to keep their documents and certificates ready by August 31.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) had, in March, announced that it will be mandatory for all central universities to admit students through the CUET.
