Delhi Schools To Resume Functioning With Normal Timings From February 6

The decision from the Delhi government comes in the light of improving weather conditions in the national capital region.

All schools in Delhi will resume their functions with normal school timings from February 6, 2024. The Directorate Of Education, Delhi, through an official order on Monday, directed all schools in the national capital to resume normal operations from Tuesday. The order has been released for all government, government-aided, and recognised private schools in Delhi. The move from the Delhi government comes in the backdrop of improved weather conditions in the national capital region.

“In view of the improved weather conditions in Delhi, all Govt., Govt Aided and Recognised Private Schools of Delhi shall resume their full normal timings wef. 06.02.2024 (Tuesday). The HoSs must inform all Students, Parents and Staff well in time through Mass SMS facility, Phone Calls, SMC and other suitable means of communication,” reads the official DoE order.

Notably, in the past couple of months; late December 2023 and January 2024, operational timings for Delhi schools were revised several times in the light of severe cold wave across Delhi-NCR, coupled with dense fog and rising pollution levels. The revision in school timings were introduced to safeguard young schoolgoing kids from being exposed to the harsh weather and pollution.

Besides Delhi, respective administrations in several neighbouring regions in Delhi-NCR like Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Noida, and Faridabad also revised school operations with restricted timings and extended winter breaks for schools.

Earlier in January this year, the Delhi government also introduced plans to rope in a ‘Hybrid’ learning mode in the light of weather, cold and heat waves, and pollution. Delhi education minister Atishi, directed officials to chalk out a hybrid learning model by bringing together Delhi Model Virtual Schools (DMVS) programme and the physical school model of the Delhi government, news agency PTI reported an official statement as saying.
