CUET UG 2022 Results Out After Delay Due To Technical Glitches, Universities To Prepare Own Merit List

NTA annouced that the merit list will be prepared by participating universities, who will decide about their individual counselling on the basis of CUET-UG score.

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results for the debut edition of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG 2022 on Friday. The result was to be announced at 10 pm on Thursday but got delayed due to a huge database, the NTA informed post-midnight.

“The merit lists will be prepared by participating universities who will decide about their individual counselling on the basis of CUET-UG score card,” said Sadhana Parashar, Senior Director (Exams), NTA, as per PTI report.

Speaking on the scoring method Parashar told PTI, that the performance of every candidate was evaluated using the "equi-percentile method". Under this method, normalised marks of every candidate were calculated using the percentiles of each group of students in a given session across multiple days for the same subject.

"For several subjects, CUET-UG was conducted in different shifts. Since the question papers for any subject in different shifts are different and it is quite possible that despite all best possible efforts to maintain equivalence among various question papers, the difficulty level of these question papers administered in different sessions may not be the same or similar," Parashar said.

"Some of the candidates might have ended up attempting a relatively tougher set of questions as compared to other sets. The candidates who attempted the comparatively tougher examination are likely to get lower marks as compared to those who attempted the easier one", she added.

The UGC Chairman told the Indian Express on Friday, that the first academic session is likely to begin by the last week of October or the first week of November. He said that the universities may take six weeks to issue the first cut-off, second list and so on until most of the seats are filled.

NTA held the CUET UG 2022 examination in six phases between July 15 and August 30. This was the first-ever common entrance test for undergraduate admissions to universities.

CUET UG 2022 was conducted in 489 centres across 259 cities in India.

CUET UG was scheduled for approximately 14,90,000 candidates. As many as 8,10,000 appeared in the first slot while 6,80,000 in the second slot, NTA said in a press release.

"The candidates have applied for 54,555 unique combinations of subjects across 90 universities. The total number of question papers was 2,219 and the number of the question was 50,476," NTA added.
