CBSE Board Exam Dates: Education Minister To Announce Class 10, 12 Exam Schedule On Dec 31

The Education Minister had earlier this week ruled out conducting board examinations for classes 10 and 12 till February in view of the Coronavirus situation.

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Saturday said that he will announce Class 10 and 12 examination dates on December 31, Thursday. As per the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, the announcement of the board examination dates will be made at 6 pm. The Education Minister took to Twitter to make the announcement.  "I will announce the date when the exams will commence for students appearing for CBSE board exams in 2021," the minister wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

Prior to this, Nishank had earlier this week ruled out conducting board examinations for classes 10 and 12 till February in view of the Coronavirus situation. Usually, practical tests are conducted in January and theory exams begin in February and conclude in March. On Tuesday, the Education minister had said that a decision on when to conduct the exams will be taken later after assessment of the situation and consultation with stakeholders. The CBSE board exams would not be held online in 2021 and the students will be writing the exams with pen and paper as in the past. The CBSE officials have clarified that there is no proposal to conduct the board examinations online. However, the exam dates have not been decided yet. Many parents have demanded that the dates of the board exams be extended by nearly three months and have sent a proposal to the Union Ministry of Education on this. With no clarity on the board exam dates yet, several schools have already conducted pre-board exams online to keep the students prepared. On the subject of a dialogue with the teachers, Nishank had said, "I have always been keen to interact with teachers, understand their hopes and aspirations and work accordingly. When I speak of teachers, it reminds me of my early days as a teacher."
