Bengal Launches Centralised UG Admission Portal for 2025-26: Registrations Begin Today at 2 PM

West Bengal's Centralised Admission Portal (WBCAP) launched on June 18, 2025, streamlining undergraduate admissions for 460 colleges. Students can apply online at wbcap.in until July 1.

Kolkata, June 18 — The much-anticipated West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal (WBCAP) for undergraduate admissions officially goes live today, June 18, 2025, at 2 PM. Students aspiring to secure a seat in the state’s government and government-aided colleges can now register and submit applications at [wbcap.in](https://wbcap.in). The window to apply will remain open until July 1, 2025.

This centralised portal has been introduced to streamline and simplify the admission process for nearly 460 colleges affiliated with 17 universities across West Bengal. The move is expected to bring relief to thousands of students by offering a unified platform for multiple institutions.

WBCAP: Key Dates to Remember

The admission journey is structured around several important milestones:

July 5, 2025: Release of the institute-wise merit list and initial seat allotments
July 5–12: First round of admissions
July 17: Upgrade round seat allotments announced
July 17–20: Admission window for the upgrade round
July 24–31: Physical verification of documents
August 1: Official commencement of the academic session

Missing the first round doesn’t mean the end of the road. A mop-up round provides a second chance.

Mop-Up Round: Second Chance To Secure Seat

For those who either didn’t receive a seat in the first round or failed to confirm admission, a mop-up round will be held:

August 2–11: Fresh and Phase 1 applicants can register
August 14: Mop-up merit list and seat allotment
August 14–17: Admission period for mop-up phase
August 28–September 1: Final round of physical verification

This phase opens doors not only for fresh applicants but also for students from the earlier round who couldn’t clinch a seat.

Step-by-Step: How to Apply

The application process is entirely online and involves six easy steps:

  • Visit https://wbcap.in.
  • Register using the provided link
  • Log in to your dashboard
  • Fill out the application form
  • Upload the required documents
  • Pay the application fee and submit the form

Applicants should download and print a copy of their form for future reference. Accuracy and timely submission are key to ensuring a smooth admission process.

Apply To Multiple Programmes

Candidates can apply to up to 25 undergraduate programmes across participating institutions through a single portal. This flexibility makes the process significantly more convenient compared to previous years.

The portal, launched by Bratya Basu, West Bengal’s Higher Education Minister, is seen as a transformative step toward digitising and unifying the college admission process in the state. It not only enhances transparency but also levels the playing field for students from diverse regions and backgrounds.
