Assam University To Take UG Admissions Without CUET Scores

Assam University: 80% of UG seats will be filled based on Higher Secondary (HS) scores, while 20% will still go to students with CUET scores.

Assam University: Assam University has recently revised its admission process for UG courses starting in the academic year 2024-25. Students will now no longer require CUET (Common University Entrance Test) scores to apply for various UG courses at Assam University. Instead, students can use their class 12th scores to participate in the admission process. Furthermore, 80% of UG seats will be filled based on Higher Secondary (HS) scores, while 20% will still go to students with CUET scores. According to the university this change been has implemented to help more local students.

However, this new rule introduced by Assam University applies only to UG courses. Admissions to postgraduate (PG) courses will still require CUET scores. This announcement was made on May 22, 2024, by Shubham Roy, president of the Assam University Student Union (AUSU) and a member of the ABVP party. The university management confirmed the news later.

The decision to revise the rule was introduced because of the efforts put in by the AUSU to help local students get better educational opportunities. Many students from the Barak Valley and rural areas were facing problems in taking the CUET exam because there weren't enough exam centers nearby. This problem restricted many local students from studying at Assam University. AUSU worked hard with the Assam University management and government officials to remove the CUET score requirement. AUSU thanked the Assam University management, the Government of Assam, and the public for supporting the new admission process.
