Anna University To Conduct Online Exams For Final Year Students By End Of August

Anna University has decided to conduct the final year exams using online mode. Students who will not be able to appear for the online exams will be given the option to appear for an offline version at a later time

New Delhi: Final Year students of Anna University will be appearing for their final semester examinations online. The university has said that students who will not be able to appear for the online exams will be given the option to appear for an offline version at a later time. ALSO READ| UPSC Civil Services Examination Final Result DECLARED, Pradeep Singh Tops; Here's The Direct Link Final exams are crucial to validate the degrees of the final year students which is why they have decided to conduct the examinations. The university will conduct a one-hour test consisting of multiple-choice questions by the end of this month. Students will be monitored by artificial intelligence to prevent malpractice. The AI will track physical movement, computer screen usage and audio. In a Times Of India report, the vice-chancellor M.K Surappa said that they exams “protects the future of students”. Parts of the course had to be dropped as many teaching days were lost due to the pandemic. The exam will carry 30 percent of the total marks and the other 70 percent will be based on internal assessment and project work the vice-chancellor told TOI. The report also says that the exams will be held by the end of August. The online exams come as a major relief for more than 20,000 students who have been waiting for some clarity regarding the Anna University Final Semester Exams 2020. Becomes One Of The Youngest IAS Officer Of India According to a Firstpost report, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami told the Ministry of Education that the final year exams in the state cannot be conducted by 30 September as many college and hostel buildings have been converted into COVID-19 care centres and quarantine centres. The decision is in accordance with the recent guidelines of the University Grants Commission UGC which made it mandatory for universities to conduct final semester/year exams. After 31 students filed a plea against the decision, the case was taken up by the Supreme Court. The next hearing is set for August 10. In the earlier hearing,UGC said that it had no intention to change the decision and submitted a 50-page affidavit as a response.
