30 Delhi Govt School Students Reach Paris To Learn French

Thirty Delhi government school students are in Paris for an A2-level French course, part of an initiative to enhance language education.

New Delhi: Thirty students from Delhi's government schools have arrived in Paris to participate in a French language course at the Alliance Française de Paris, as reported by news agency PTI. According to an official statement, this programme, aimed at students from classes 9 to 12, includes many first-generation school-goers.

These students will undertake an A2-level French course that offers immersive experiences, including staying with host families and exploring cultural landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Disneyland from November 4 to 15.

Organized by the French Embassy in India, this initiative is part of a collaboration between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and Alliance Française to expand French language education in Delhi's schools.

“This initiative is designed to deepen students’ understanding of French language and culture, broadening their global outlook and helping bridge educational disparities,” the statement noted.

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal posted on X, “No one ever imagined that a child from a poor family studying in a government school would go abroad to study. This is nothing short of a dream."

He added, “In 10 years, we have achieved what once seemed impossible. We are giving every child in Delhi the opportunities that were once reserved for wealthy families. Together with the people of Delhi, we will elevate this educational revolution to heights previously unimaginable.”
