A man in Delhi attempted suicide over a livestream on a social media platform, however, Delhi Police intervened and rescued him.

A 28-year-old man in Delhi's Shahdara allegedly tried to kill himself over a livestream on Instagram but, was saved by Delhi Police after his sister watched it and informed the police. Officials told the news agency PTI that the man lives alone, and was going through a marital dispute which led to this situation. His sister watched the livestream on the social media platform and immediately called the police to seek help. After receiving the information about the incident, Farsh Bazar SHO rushed to the man's house at Chhota Thakur Dwara in Shahdara along with his team and rescued him.

A senior police official told PTI that the man had inflicted injuries on his arms by using a blade and he was immediately taken to a hospital for the treatment of the same. Delhi Police said that legal proceedings in the matter have been initiated.

Earlier in March, a similar case was observed when a 25-year-old man was allegedly trying to commit suicide on a Facebook Live and was rescued by the Police in Northwest Delhi. As per police officials, the man consumed some tablets and went live to display the incident. The Delhi Police’s Cyber unit found the video and shared it with local police. As per a report of the Indian Express, the Facebook team provided police with two contact numbers that were associated with the social media account that was used to shoot the live. Following this, the SHO and staff rushed to the spot, and an emergency response vehicle (ERV) along with some beat staff also rushed to his house.

In the video, he was heard saying, “Bye…forever. I hope I don’t live after this,” reported the Indian Express.

The police found the man lying in his bed in a drowsy state after he allegedly consumed an overdose of medicines. As per the Indian Express, police found empty wrappers of methylcobalamin, tripag 25 and ryfxacare 400 tablets. The man was then rushed to GTB hospital in the national capital where he underwent treatment and was later discharged.

The victim's parents informed police that their son had been depressed for around two to three weeks and was undergoing treatment for the same.
