'Challenge BJP To Show Me The Paper...': AAP MP Raghav Chadha Amid Signatures Row

AAP MP Raghav Chadha, addressing a press conference, accused the BJP of running a propoganda against him and warned of legal action.

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Thursday said BJP's lies would be exposed after four MPs accused the AAP leader of proposing their names for constitution of a select committee on the Delhi Services Bill without their consent. Addressing a press conference, Chadha challenged the BJP to show him the piece of paper where they claimed the forged signatures were made.

"A baseless rumour is being spread. I challenge the BJP leaders to show me the piece of paper that has those signatures," Raghav Chadha said.

"The Rajya Sabha rule book states that no signature or written consent of a member, whose name has been proposed for the select committee, is required. It nowhere states that you require signature or written consent from that proposed member," the AAP MP further said.

Chadha's reaction came a day after Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar referred complaints of the four MPs to the privileges committee to examine and investigate the matter. The privileges committee has served a notice on Chadha. However, AAP said they were yet to receive the notice.

A Rajya Sabha bulletin said the Chairman had received complaints from MPs Sasmit Patra, S Phangnon Konyak, M Thambidurai and Narhari Amin, who alleged breach of privilege by Chadha.

"I request the media to show the truth. A small section of the media is running propaganda against me and I will have to file a complaint against them. I will also have to file a complaint in court against those MPs who claimed that the signatures were forged," Chadha said.

Accusing the BJP of running a propoganda against him, Chadha said, "The BJP's main mantra is to repeat a lie thousand times so that it becomes the truth. They want to suppress my voice. I am not afraid of the BJP."

"Privileges committee had initiated action against big leaders of this country -- Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi, Arun Jaitley, Manmohan Singh and Morarji Desai. My name has also come in this category. I will proudly present my views in front of the committee of privileges," Chadha said.
