I-Day: Several Roads Closed For General Traffic Around Red Fort In Delhi Tomorrow From 4-11 AM. Check Details
Independence Day 2023 Traffic Advisory: Delhi traffic police has given a detailed route-wise description for general commuters in view of Independence Day celebrations in the national capital.
Independence Day 2023: Security arrangements have been tightened across Delhi in view of the Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday, August 15. Police deployment has also been increased in and around the Red Fort from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will do the customary address and other programmes will be held. Meanwhile, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed advisory for commuters on Independence Day so that they can plan accordingly. Several roads around Red Fort will remain closed from 4 am to 11 am.
Delhi Traffic Advisory On Independence Day
Traffic Restrictions Around Red Fort: The following roads will be closed for general traffic from 4.00 AM to 11.00 AM on 15.08.2023 and only labeled vehicles will be permitted:-
- Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail
- Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail.
- S.P.Mukherjee Marg from H.C.Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk.
- Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort
- Nishad Raj Marg from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg
- Esplanade Road and its Link Road to Netaji Subhash Marg
- Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT
- Outer Ring Road from ISBT to IP Flyoveri.e. Salimgarh Bypass
Roads To Avoid: From 04:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on 15.08.2023
Those vehicles which do not have parking labels for Independence Day Celebration may avoid C-Hexagon India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Sikandra Road, W Point, A point Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Subhash Marg, J.L. Nehru Marg and Ring Road between Nizamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmere Gate and Outer Ring Road from Nizamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmere Gate via Salimgarh bypass, the advisory said.
NORTH-SOUTH ACCESS
Alternative-1: Aurobindo Marg-Safdarjang Road-Kamal Ataturk Marg-Kautilya Marg-SMarg-11 Murti-Mother Teresa Crescent-Park Street-Mandir Marg-Panchkulan Road-Rani Jhansi Road and reach their destinations in North Delhi and vice-versa
Alternative- 2: Reach Connaught Place - Minto Road-Bhavthus Marg-Ajmeri Gate -Shradhanand Marg- Lahon Gate Chowk-Naya Bazar-Peeli Kothi-SP Mukherjee-Marg up to OORS and reach their destination in North Delhi and vice versa.
Alternative-3: Reach Nizamuddin Bridge to cross Yamuna-Pushta Road-GT Road and cross Yudhisthir Setu to ISBT and reach their destination in North Delhi and vice versa
EAST-WEST ACCESS
- NH-24 (NH-9)-Nizamuddin Khatta-Barapula Road-under AIIMS Flyover-Ring Road
- DND- Barapullah Road further as per 1 above OR via Ashram on Ring Road & proceed accordingly.
- NH-24 (NH-9) Nizamuddin Khatta Ring Road Bhairon Road - Mathura Road- Subramania Bharti Marg-Rajesh Pilot Marg-Prithviraj Road-Safdarjung Road- Kamal Ataturk Marg-Panchsheel Marg-SP Marg Ridge Road accordingly and vice versa.
- Vikas Marg-IP Marg-DDU Marg-Minto Road then either via Connaught Place or Ajmeri Gate-DBG & proceed further
- Pusta Road (Shastri Park)-GT Road Yudhistir Setu (SBT Kashmere Gate and proceed accordingly via Ring Road or Rani Jhansi Road
DND-NH24 (NH9) - Yudhistir Setu- Signature Bridge- Wazirabad Bridge will remain open to reach Ring Road. Old Iron Bridge and Geeta Colony Bridge towards Shanti Van will be closed.
