In the wake of the farmers' march towards the national capital, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Tuesday announced that multiple gates of several metro stations in the city may be closed as per security instructions. The DMRC also added that while the gates may remain closed, the stations are operational.
"A few gates may be closed in following stations as per security instructions. However, stations are operational," said the DMRC in a post on X.
The concerned metro stations are: Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, Janpath, Khan Market, Lok Kalyan Marg.
As the agitating farmers head to New Delhi, the counter measures to it including tight security arrangement and traffic diversions, have largely affected road traffic as well in the Delhi and the NCR region. Villagers residing along the border with Haryana are facing inconvinience due to the commotion, reported news agency PTI.
To ensure law and order in the national capital, over 5,000 police personnel including paramilitary forces, have been deployed in border areas — Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur. The Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the entire city and completely securing all the borders turning the national capital into a fortress.

Surveillance technologies including drones and CCTV cameras are being used to monitor the border areas.
The farmers are moving towards Delhi as a part of a protest march 'Delhi Challo' to demand legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price, debt waiver, among other demands.
