Secretly Filmed In Washroom During IIT-Delhi Fest, DU Girl Students Claim. One Arrested

In a video released on social media, the girls from Bharti College's Elantre Society claimed that the administration did not take action against the guilty after being told.

Police said on Saturday that about ten students from Delhi University's Bharti College claimed they were surreptitiously videotaped while changing in the IIT-Delhi restroom for a fashion presentation during the institute's current fest, news agency PTI reported. In a video released on social media, the girls from Bharti College's Elantre Society claimed that the administration did not take action against the guilty after being told.

The incident was reported to the Kishangarh police station, and the offender, a 20-year-old contractual sweeper, was apprehended, according to the police.

“Today, a complaint was received through X at Kishangarh police station regarding making a video in the ladies washroom of IIT-Delhi by a boy,” a senior police officer was quoted by PTI in its report.

On Saturday, a complaint was lodged at Kishangarh police station under Section 354C (voyeurism) of the Indian Penal Code, and the accused – a contractual sweeper — was detained and taken into jail, according to the official.

He also stated that further investigation is being conducted.

Meanwhile, IIT-Delhi released a statement claiming the situation was promptly turned over to authorities and that the institute has "zero tolerance" for such incidents.

“The accused, in an unfortunate and regrettable incident, on October 6, was immediately handed over to the Delhi Police that is investigating the matter. He was identified as an employee of an agency to which housekeeping services have been outsourced,” the IIT Delhi statement was quoted by PTI in its report.

“The institute treated the matter with the utmost seriousness and urgency it deserved. The institute is fully cooperating with the police and has a zero-tolerance policy for any such instance,” it added.

The Delhi University Students' Union also denounced the event and sought strong punishment for those responsible.
