Following the incident, the Delhi Police suspended the sub-inspector who was involved in the act with immediate effect. The action was taken after a purported video of him kicking the people offering namaaz went viral on social media.
The people were said to have gathered on a road near the Inderlok metro station to offer the 'Asar ki Namaz' at around 2 pm when the cop came and disrupted their namaz as he began kicking them during their prayers. The incident sparked outrage among the locals who blocked the road and demanded that strict action be taken against the policemen. Subsequently, security was beefed up in the area to maintain law and order.
