Delhi: 11-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Swimming Pool Owned By Wives Of Police Officials, Family Alleges Foul Play

Delhi News: Family members of the boy alleged foul play following the incident and held a protest outside Alipur police station.

Delhi News: An 11-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool run by the wives of two police officers in outer-north Delhi's Alipur area, news agency PTI reported on Wednesday, citing officials. According to the police, family members of the boy alleged foul play following the incident and held a protest outside Alipur police station. Investigations so far have not suggested any foul play, but investigations are underway, they said.

A case has been registered following the incident. The police said that the swimming pool was being run by the wives of Delhi Police officials. According to another officer, the incident took place on May 14 when the boy, his father, and other teenagers were swimming in the pool.

The father of the deceased boy came out to attend an emergency phone call, but when he went back, he spotted his son in the deep end of the pool and motionless, the officer said, as reported by PTI. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors, he said.

It has been found that the pool was being run in a joint venture by the wives of an assistant commissioner of police (ACP) and a sub-inspector (SI) of Delhi Police, he said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer-north) Ravi Singh said a case under Section 304A (death by negligence) has been registered, PTI reported.
