Delhi Liquor Policy Case: Court Adjourns Hearing Till April 5 On Manish Sisodia’s Bail Plea

Special judge MK Nagpal announced the adjournment of Sisodia’s bail plea after counsel sought time to submit a response to the ED's reply filed on his client's bail plea earlier.

A court on Saturday adjourned the hearing on Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s bail plea hearing till April 5, reported news agency PTI. Sisodia is currently in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money-laundering case pertaining to the Delhi liquor policy case.

Special judge MK Nagpal announced the adjournment of Sisodia’s bail plea after counsel sought time to submit a response to the ED's reply filed on his client's bail plea earlier, reported PTI.

The counsel informed the court and asked for some time to prepare and present elaborate arguments on the ongoing case against Sisodia.

Earlier on Friday, the court had said it will pronounce its order on Sisodia's bail plea in the CBI case on March 31.

Sisodia was arrested by the ED on March 9 and is currently at Tihar jail, where he was lodged in connection with a separate case being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), reported PTI.

The CBI arrested him on February 26 in connection with an alleged corruption case in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.

A Delhi court had sent Manish Sisodia to judicial custody till April 5 in a money laundering case in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. Manish Sisodia has urged the court to allow him to carry some religious and spiritual books during his judicial custody.

The court has asked him to move an application in this regard, news agency ANI reported.

Last Tuesday, the court sought the Enforcement Directorate's response on a bail plea of Manish Sisodia in the case. Special Judge MK Nagpal issued notice to the ED and sought its response by March 25.

Earlier on March 17, the court had extended the ED custody of the AAP leader by five days till March 22.
