2 Dead, 6 Injured, Trees Uprooted And Buildings Damaged As Duststorm Wreaks Havoc In Delhi

Strong duststorms swept parts of Delhi following which the weather department issued an advisory asking people to stay indoors and to avoid any unnecessary travel.

Two individuals were killed and 6 were injured after trees were uprooted during the dust storm on Friday night. Meanwhile, 17 people were injured because of damaged buildings. Strong winds swept parts of the national capital at night, following which the weather department had issued an advisory asking people to stay indoors and to avoid any unnecessary travel. The MeT department also asked people to seek safe shelters and avoid cover under trees.

“Residents are urged to stay indoors, secure their windows and doors and refrain from unnecessary travel," the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in the advisory.

According to PTI, there were multiple reports of trees falling in different areas due to the strong winds in the city.

Two signboards fell on two vehicles including an ambulance and injured three people in the Dwarka Mor area amid strong winds. Two injured persons were occupants of the ambulance, while the third was the driver of an autorickshaw, as per a PTI report. Police and other rescue teams were deployed to rescue the three injured persons from the spot. A crane was used to remove the debris, police told PTI.

The bad weather also led to nine flights being diverted, some of them were to Jaipur.
