Delhi Govt Allows Use Of Loudspeakers Till Midnight During Ramleela, Durga Puja

The CMO statement further added that Ramleela organisers must obtain police authorization and guarantee that the use of loudspeakers does not breach noise regulations in residential areas.

The Delhi CMO in a statement on Friday stated that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved a special exemption for using loudspeakers until midnight for Ramleela and Durga Puja celebrations, news agency ANI reported. Earlier, loudspeakers were permitted in Delhi till 10 pm, which after the announcement, will continue till 12 pm. The declaration comes a day after Kejriwal met with a team of the Luv Kush Ramleela Committee's office bearers.

"The use of loudspeakers will be allowed till 12 am during Durga Puja and Ramlila celebrations. Currently, the use of loudspeakers is allowed only till 10 PM in the national capital. The file regarding the exemption has been sent to LG VK Saxena," CMO Delhi stated.

The CMO statement further added that Ramleela organisers must obtain police authorization and guarantee that the use of loudspeakers does not breach noise regulations in residential areas.

Delhi Ramleela Performance Timing Extended Till Midnight From 10 PM

Earlier, according to trade leader Brijesh Goyal, a Luv Kush Ramleela Committee team met with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday, who supported the proposal to allow Ramleela performances throughout the city till midnight rather than only until 10 p.m.

Ramleela performances by various organising committees in the city will begin on October 15, with preparations well underway.

Ramleela Lav Kush Committee Arjun Kumar informed the gathering that Ramleeela performances and the use of loudspeakers are permitted until 10 p.m., and that this time should be extended till midnight.

According to a statement, the team also raised concerns over the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's reservation of grounds for Ramleela.

"The chief minister has approved the extension of Ramleela performances in Delhi until 12 midnight emphasising his commitment to support religious-cultural celebrations," the chairman of Chamber of Trade and Industry Goel was quoted by PTI in its report.

He also promised to look into ground booking concerns.

According to Goyal, the MCD will also be asked to do thorough fumigation around the Ramleela grounds to avoid mosquito breeding.
