'Police Made To Do Drama By Political Bosses': Kejriwal Hits Back At BJP Over Notice On MLA ‘Poaching’ Charge

A crime branch team of the Delhi Police arrived at Kejriwal's official residence in Civil Lines to serve him a notice to join a probe over his claim that the BJP was trying to poach AAP MLAs.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday reacted to the police's attempts to serve him a notice over his MLA poaching charge against the Bharatiya Janata Party, saying he sympathised with the police who were being made to indulge in "drama" by their "political bosses" instead of preventing crime in the city.

Earlier in the day, a crime branch team of the Delhi Police arrived at Kejriwal's official residence in Civil Lines to serve him a notice to join a probe over his claim that the BJP was trying to poach AAP MLAs.

The Delhi CM took to X and shared a video of some policemen at his residence saying that he sympathised with the police officers sent to serve him notice. He further stated, "it's their duty to stop crime in Delhi but they are being made to indulge in drama. That is why crime is rising in Delhi." He also said in the post, without naming any party or leader, that the "political bosses" are asking him which AAP MLAs were contacted for switching sides.

In an apparent swipe at the saffron party, he asked why there was drama on the issue when the party knew who was behind toppling governments of other parties across the country in the last few years by poaching MLAs.

The Delhi police team led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-level officer reached the chief minister's residence and insisted they will hand over the notice to Kejriwal only as it was on his name, while the officials at the chief minister's residence said they were ready to take the notice and give a receiving to the crime branch.

'Bhagoda': BJP's Shehzad Poonawalla's Dig At Delhi CM

The BJP on Saturday slammed Kejriwal calling him the "crownless king of corruption who is always on the run" after a drama unfolded at his residence as a crime branch team arrived to serve him a notice. Reacting sharply, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, "It's a strange situation. People of Delhi are today compelled to call Kejriwal a 'bhagoda' (fugitive)".

"Today people of Delhi are saying "Bhag Kejriwal Bhag", he has become 'bhagoda'...Kejriwal is on the run when it comes to the allegations of corruption in liquor scam and Kejriwal believes in hit and run when it comes to making wholesale scurrilous allegations without any basis or substance," Poonawalla said.
