After the CBI arrested AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann paid a visit to his residence to meet with his family members.

The Central Bureau of Investigation detained the Delhi deputy chief minister in connection with alleged corruption in the creation and implementation of the now-cancelled excise policy for 2021-22.

Bhagwant Mann blasted the BJP for arresting Sisodia, calling the move an "insult" to the education received by lakhs of children in Delhi.

"The arrest of Manish Sisodia is an affront to the education of lakhs of Delhi children. Sending the one who builds schools to jail is part of the BJP's agenda," Bhagwant Mann accused in a Hindi tweet.

Arvind Kejriwal had tweeted earlier in the day, when Manish Sisodia was on his way to the CBI headquarters, "We will take care of your family, Manish. Don't worry."

"Manish ji's wife is suffering from a serious illness -- multiple sclerosis. In this disease, the brain's control over the body gradually decreases. Manishji's son studies abroad. She is alone now. I told her that Manish ji is a brave person and every Indian is proud of Manishji," the Delhi chief minister said.

Before heading to the CBI headquarters for questioning, Sisodia had a roadshow in which he discussed his wife's illness and urged his supporters to look after her because he was practically assured of his detention.

The CBI arrested Sisodia after 8.5 hours of questioning, stating that he was evasive in his replies even after being confronted with evidence.
