The Udyan Utsav 2024 in the Amrit Udyan (earlier known as Mughal Gardens) opened to the public on Friday. The Amrit Udyan will remain open to visitors until March 31, between 10 AM and 5 PM (last entry will be at 4 PM).

Spread over 15 acres, Amrit Udyan has often been portrayed as the soul of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, and every year, the gardens and its beautiful flora are opened to the public just in time for spring. Earlier, it was only known for the East Lawn, Central Lawn, Long Garden and Circular Garden. However, during the terms of former presidents APJ Abdul Kalam and Ram Nath Kovind, more gardens were developed, namely, Herbal-I, Herbal-II, Tactile Garden, Bonsai Garden and Arogya Vanam.

Main Attractions of Udyan Utsav 2024

While this year’s main attractions include, Tulips, Daffodils, Asiatic Lily, Oriental Lily and many other rare seasonal flowers, the theme flower chosen for the 2024 edition of Udyan Utsav is Tulip.

The artistically curated garden will display 18 Tulip varieties, including, monochromatic tones, double tones as well as early and late bloomers.

For children, there will be a specially curated garden called ‘Bal Vatika’ where a 225-year-old Sheesham tree stands in addition to a treehouse, Nature’s classroom etc. The tree stands witness to the downfall of British rule, evolution of Rashtrapati Bhavan and the making of today’s India.

Breaking the tranquillity of the garden is the Musical Garden which includes three large water fountains that demonstrate digital electronics, electromagnetism, hydrodynamics and hydrostatics. The music is digitised and the audio is fed through a computerised programme controller.
