Sikar Shootout: All 5 Accused Arrested, Will Ensure Speedy Trial And Strict Punishment, Says Raj CM Gehlot

The CM informed that accused were nabbed with weapons and vehicles.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday said that all the five accused of the Sikar shootout have been arrested and that a speedy trial in the case will be ensured.

CM Gehlot took to Twitter to inform, “All the five accused of yesterday's murder case in Sikar along with their weapons and vehicles have been arrested. Speedy trial of all these accused and strict punishment at the earliest by the court will be ensured.”

The accused were arrested from Guda village of Jhunjhunu district and it has been reported that they have been planning to kill gangster Raju Thet for the last month.

Gangster Rahu Thet was killed by the members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang on Saturday in a shootout in Rajasthan’s Sikar. Another person, Tarachand Jaat had also succumbed to bullet injuries in the shootout.

Talking to reporters on Sunday, CM Gehlot said, “The accused had come from outside while some were from Rajasthan as well. It is very unfortunate that some gangs are still operating in the state. We are fighting against gangsters from Haryana and other states.”

Director-General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra said in Jaipur that the police have caught Sikar residents Manish Jat and Vikram Gurjar, and Haryana’s Satish Kumhar, Jatin Meghwal, and Navin Meghwal. The police personnel who caught the accused will be rewarded, the police chief said, reported PTI.

Earlier on Sunday, Rajasthan police informed about detaining the five accused involved in the firing incident and said that two of them belong to Rajasthan and three others are from Haryana.

The police nabbed the accused within 24 hours of the incident after the Opposition came heavily on the Rajasthan government after the shootout.

After Theht was shot dead on Saturday, a man named Rohit Godara, who introduced himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang on Facebook, claimed responsibility for the killing. He said that it was to avenge the death of Anandpal Singh and Balbir Banuda. The post was later deleted.

Banuda, a member of the Anandpal gang, was killed in a gang war in Bikaner jail in July 2014 and it was alleged that Theth was behind the murder. The Facebook post was later deleted, reported PTI.

However, Godara shared another post on Facebook late at night, saying Thet was his enemy and he has no regrets about his killing but apologised to the family of Tarachand, a farmer from Nagaur district, and his community.

He also said that he will try to support Tarachand's family in every possible manner.
