Rajasthan: Man Runs Over 9 Wedding Guests After Argument Over Firecrackers
Seven were critically injured and referred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur.
A man allegedly ran hit wedding guests with his car out the venue and injured nine people in the Dausa district in Rajasthan. The incident took place in Ladpura village on Sunday night.
According to a PTI report, the accused was a part of the wedding procession and was bursting firecrackers outside the venue when an argument broke out between him and the bride’s brother that escalated. The accused then sat in his car and drove towards the group people from the bride’s side of the family and injured nine of them.
As per an NDTV report, the accused wanted to park his car where people were bursting the crackers.
Seven were critically injured and referred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur. Following the incident, the accused managed to flee from the spot and searches are being conducted to trace him.
According to an NDTV report, the car’s number plate, which fell during the incident, has been found. The number belongs to the Sawai Madhopur district. "We will find and arrest him as soon as possible," Lalsot Additional Superintendent of Police Dinesh Aggarwal was quoted by NDTV.
In another incident Six people were killed and two were injured after a car collided with an auto on Saturday morning. The driver of a Creta car, attempting to overtake another vehicle, switched lanes at high speed but failed to notice an approaching autorickshaw, resulting in a collision, Bijnor Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek told ANI. The people who died were a family returning to Bijnor after a wedding in Bihar. The bride and groom were among the people who died on the spot.
A case has been registered against the car driver who has also sustained injuries and the vehicle has been seized.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Uttarakhand's Pauri district, where a bus carrying a wedding procession fell into a 200-foot-deep gorge. Around 25 to 30 people are feared dead on the spot. The bus was going from Laldhang in Haridwar to Bironkhal village in Pauri. On receiving information about the incident, Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri reached the spot but she had to face the anger of the villagers. There were 40-50 wedding guests on the bus.
