Delhi YouTuber Targeted In Rs 13 Crore Extortion Plot, One Arrested

A 25-year-old man was arrested in Delhi for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 13 crore from a YouTuber by threatening him.

Vishal alias Katia, 25, was identified as the caller, had allegedly threatened to kill the YouTuber if he didn’t meet Katia’s demands.

A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 13 crore from a Delhi-based YouTuber.

According to a PTI report, a 24-year-old complainant, who runs a YouTube channel, told police that on April 9, he received multiple calls from an unknown number while he was in Bawana's Sector-1 in Delhi.

Vishal alias Katia, 25, was identified as the caller, had allegedly threatened to kill the YouTuber if he didn’t meet Katia’s demands.

During the calls, the accused demonstrated knowledge about property inheritance received by the YouTuber's wife, specifically mentioning her share of land worth several crores. In the fifth call, the caller became aggressive and threatened the complainant with dire consequences if he did not pay Rs 13 crore, as per the news agency.

Following this, a case was registered at Bawana Police Station, and Vishal was located and arrested near Nirmal Vatika in Bawana within 24 hours. Vishal, a resident of Bawana, had previously been involved in a criminal case.

 The mobile phone used to make the extortion calls was recovered from his possession.

Last year, YouTuber Sourav Joshi received an extortion letter from a person who claimed he was from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and demanded Rs 2 crore in cash.

The letter, signed by someone identifying as 'Karan Bishnoi,' threatened to kill Joshi and his family members if the demand was not met within five days.

 However, it was later revealed that the 'gangster' behind this dramatic threat was a 19-year-old from Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, who had recently been fired from his job as a security guard at a luxury hotel in Mohali. In his note, he had warned Joshi that failure to pay or any attempt to involve the police would result in his family being targeted "one by one".
