Delhi Acid Attack Case: The teen is battling serious injuries at Safdarjung Hospital.
Three people have been arrested for throwing acid on a 17-year-old girl in Dwarka on Wednesday, ANI quoted DCP M Harshvardhan as saying. The incident, which triggered severe outrage, led the ruling AAP and women groups to raise questions on the availability of acid in Delhi markets despite a ban.
The incident was caught on CCTV footage. It showed two people on a bike throwing acid at the girl on the sidewalk.
The two accused who threw the acid have been identified as Sachin Arora, the victim's neighbour and friend, and Harshit Agarwal. Their accomplice, Virendra Singh alias Sonu, has also been arrested, Delhi Police said.
The National Commission For Women (NCW) has taken cognizance of the attack, while the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued notice to the police.

- The attack took place at Mohan Garden near west Delhi's Uttam Nagar when the 17-year-old left her home for school on Wednesday morning.
- The teen's uncle said she was walking towards the metro station with her sister when she was attacked. The girl then ran towards nearby shops for help. One shopkeeper poured milk on her face to lessen the pain, the uncle said.
- The teen is battling serious injuries at Safdarjung Hospital's burn ICU. "She has suffered seven to eight per cent facial burns and her eyes have also been affected," PTI quoted a doctor at Safdarjung Hospital as saying.
- Sagar Preet Hooda, Special CP, Law & Order, said probe revealed that the main reason behind the crime was Sachin Arora's friendship with the girl. The duo stopped talking 2-3 months ago as the girl was not interested.
- During interrogation, police found that the accused procured the acid from Flipkart.
- The third accused, Virendra Singh, took the scooter and mobile phone of Arora with him to another location so as to mislead the investigation, police said.
- Delhi LG V K Saxena spoke to police commissioner Sanjay Arora on the matter and sought a detailed report, including information on how the acid was procured despite a ban on its sale.
- "The LG has instructed for swift and thorough investigation so as to ensure exemplary punishment to the guilty. The LG has urged hospital authorities to ensure the best treatment," the Raj Niwas Delhi said in a series of tweets.
- Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said these kind of attacks cannot be "tolerated at all". "The accused should be given the strictest punishment. The safety of every girl child in Delhi is important to us," he said.
- In 2013, the Supreme Court banned over-the-counter sale of acid at retail outlets and ordered a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to be paid by state governments to each acid attack victim.
