Delhi: 21-Year-Old Woman From Assam Stabbed To Death, Accused Known To Victim, Police Say

The 24-year-old man, who murdered the woman also hailed from Assam and was acquainted to the victim, Delhi Police said.

Delhi: A 21-year-old Assamese woman named Sneha Nath Choudhary was stabbed to death by a man in Dwarka Sector 23, Delhi. The 24-year-old accused, identified as Raj, also hailed from Assam. According to the Delhi Police,  both the victim and accused are said to have known each other. 

"The incident took place in Pochanpur area of Sector 23 this evening," police said.

Delhi Police stated that the accused attacked the victim with a knife over some dispute, which is yet unknown.

"Sneha Nath Choudhary, a native of Chhibila Bacchiya Silchar in Assam, and the accused, Raj, were known to each other and they recently had some dispute," a police officer told news agency PTI.

The accused had gone to her house in the evening and attacked her with a knife. "During a scuffle with the woman, Raj also sustained injury on his hand, the officer said," the police said.

When police reached the spot, they found the woman lying on the floor in an unconscious state.

The accused was nabbed from the spot in an injured condition, the police said. Further investigation into the matter is underway. 

In another incident in Delhi, a 22-year-old woman slit the throat of her nine-day-old infant at her house in Mundka. The police said the woman murdered her daughter as she did not want it.

The matter was brought to light after the woman's husband reported it to the police that his wife had murdered their daughter.

The woman has been booked under section 103 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the knife used in the crime has been retrieved, PTI reported.

AAP Blames LG For 'Deteriorating' Law & Order Situation In Delhi

Earlier today, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Reena Gupta had hit out at Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena over the law and order situation in the national capital.

She stated that there have been around 20 murders in East Delhi in the last three months. "Incidents like these used to happen in Chambal earlier," she said.

Holding the Delhi LG responsible for the surge in crimes, she said: "BJP's LG VK Saxena Sahib is responsible for this deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi."

Gupta also asked the LG to resign if he is unable to imorove Delhi's situation.

"You hand over the security of Delhi to the Arvind Kejriwal government, we will provide security to the people of Delhi," she said.

The AAP leader also enlisted the work done by AAP in the national capital to maintain law and order saying, "The AAP government of Delhi has installed thousands of CCTV cameras. Marshalls have been appointed in buses. Hundreds of dark spots have been eliminated. We can also improve the law and order situation in Delhi."
