Couple, Toddler Shot Dead By Woman's Family In Bihar's Bhagalpur
A couple and their two-year-old daughter were spotted by the woman's father, who stopped and thrashed them in Bihar's Bhagalpur.
A couple, along with their daughter, was shot dead by the woman’s family members in Bihar's Bhagalpur district on Tuesday. The incident unfolded in Navtolia village under Gopalpur police station around 4:30 PM. According to news agency PTI, the victims have been identified as Chandni Kumari (23), Chandan Kumar (40), and their daughter Roshini Kumari (2.) The perpetrators of this heinous crime are reported to be Pappu Singh and his son Dheeraj Kumar Singh.
The couple got married about three years ago, despite opposition from Chandni’s family.
On the day of the incident, Chandni’s father Pappu Singh saw the couple and their daughter when were returning to their home in Navtolia village. Pappu Singh accosted them, following which a quarrel ensued. The argument escalated and Pappu Singh assaulted them with an iron rod. The blows with the iron rod fractured Chandan's hands. The attack left all three unconscious. Pappu’s son Dheeraj then shot all the three at point-blank range, the police said in a statement.
Following the triple murder, Chandni's father and brother fled the village.

Immediately after the incident, senior police officers and forensic experts arrived at the scene. The bodies were then sent for post-mortem examination.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Naugachia Om Prakash Arun was quoted as saying by PTI, “According to the residents of the area, Chandan and Chandani had a love marriage three years ago. Chandni's family was opposed to her marriage. An investigation is underway. We have initiated a manhunt to apprehend the accused.”
Sushant Kumar Saroj, the Superintendent of Police, Naugachia, confirmed that the accused are currently absconding and a team has been deployed to catch them, reported news agency IANS. “We have deployed a team led by an officer of SDPO rank to capture the accused. Raids are ongoing,” Saroj said.
