An incident of medical negligence has emerged from Greater Noida, where a seven-year-old boy underwent surgery on the wrong eye at Anand Spectrum Hospital. The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 12, when the child, Yudhisthir, was admitted to the hospital due to persistent watering of his left eye.

Upon examination by a doctor at the hospital, Anand Verma, the family was informed that there was a foreign object lodged in Yudhisthir's left eye, which would require surgical intervention. The doctor said that the object appeared to be made of plastic.

The estimated cost for the operation was quoted to be Rs 45,000, which the family agreed to pay and asked the doctors to go ahead with the procedure. However, the family received the shock of their lives once the operation was over.

Doctors Operate Wrong Eye

After the surgery, it was discovered that the operation had been performed on the boy's right eye instead of the left, which was suffering. When Yudhisthir returned home, his mother noticed that the left eye had not been treated as expected. This revelation prompted the family to confront the doctor at the hospital, but they alleged that both he and his staff behaved inappropriately.

In response to the "error", the family filed a complaint with Gautam Buddha Nagar's Chief Medical Officer (CMO), demanding accountability and action against the doctor involved. The father of the child has called for the cancellation of Verma's medical licence and for the hospital to be sealed to prevent further incidents. Following these complaints, local police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
