Depression, Work Stress 'Weighed Down' Her: RJ Simran Singh's Parents

Simran Singh, an Instagram influencer and actor who died by suicide had "work-related stress" and "depression," as stated by her family.

Simran Singh, the Instagram influencer and actor who died by suicide was under "work-related stress" and "depression", said her family. The former radio jockey died by suicide at her flat in Gurugram on December 25.

She was found dead in her rented apartment in Gurugram with her room locked from inside, according to the police, adding that no suicide note was found.

“My daughter had been under work-related stress for quite some time," her father Jaswinder Singh told The Indian Express. "She often spoke to her mother and me about the stress that weighed her down," he added.

Simran was on medication for depression for the last few years, her mother Sony Singh added.

The family has not demanded any investigation into their daughter's death because they do not believe any foul play was involved, Jaswinder said. She had no issues with anyone and neither told any such thing to her parents, he added.

"What she always spoke about was the work-related pressure that she felt… Therefore, we have not demanded any probe. But we have been told that the police will be investigating her death. Things will become clearer after the postmortem report," the father said.

He also refuted speculations on social media about her alleged friendship with a YouTuber. “Social media makes all kinds of stories. It is wrong reporting, which is why we have avoided speaking to anyone in Jammu – we have not given any statement… These are all speculations,” Jaswinder said.

The Gurgaon police also said they found no evidence of foul play regarding her death.

Simran's mother recalled Simran's video call with her parents on December 4, a day before her death: "We spoke for an hour. She looked sad."

“She was articulate and would often discuss her work-related issues with me. She used to write content as well… I have seen her struggling to get the right words…," she said.

"She used to call me every day between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm… During our conversations, she usually spoke very normally and was like that at home, too. But when she would lose her temper, she got really angry. She could not control her anger,” her mother added.
