Panchsheel Park Murder: Kejriwal Visits Victim's Family, Says 'Situation In Delhi Gone From Bad To Worse'; 1 Arrested
A 64-year-old businessman was stabbed to death at his home in Delhi's Panchsheel Park on November 27. Police have arrested one accused from Moti Nagar on Saturday.
Aam Aadmi Party supremo and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday visited the family of the 64-year-old man who was stabbed to death in south Delhi's Panchsheel Park area. The senior citizen was murdered in his own house on November 27, and the police believe it to be a case of pre-planned murder.
After meeting the family of the victim, Arvind Kejriwal said that the victim's family is in deep shock as the reason behind the murder remains unknown. He also criticised the Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the law and order situation in the city.
"We are in Panchsheel Park which is considered one of the posh areas of Delhi. Here, a 64-year-old was stabbed to death. I met with his family. They are in shock because they are unable to understand what has happened. In Delhi, the law and order is crumbling. Businessmen are getting extortion calls, women are not safe, and incidents of stabbing are being reported regularly. I want to ask Union Home Minister Amit Shah, when will he wake up and do something against this. Since he became Home Minister, the situation in Delhi has gone from bad to worse," says AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal.

Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, who also accompanied Kejriwal during the visit, pointed out at the nature of the crime that took place at Panchsheel Park, stating that the victim had been stabbed 22 times.
"Out of the posh areas of south, Panchsheel Park, witnessed a brutal murder in which a man was stabbed 22 times in his own home. This incident has created an atmosphere of terror in the entire locality. A few days ago, a gym owner in the Greater Kailash area was shot dead. Today, Arvind Kejriwal met with the affected families, who are deeply shaken. Home Minister Amit Shah needs to take strict measures, and urgent steps are required to address the justice system," Bharadwaj said.
The 64-year-old man, identified as Rohit Kumar, was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood in his home on Wednesday, when the police reached the spot. He was a businessman and stayed in a three-storey building in Panchsheel Park.
The Delhi Police arrested a 25-year-old accused named Abhay Sikarwar from Moti Nagar on Saturday in connection with Kumar's murder. Delhi Police said the accused was well aware of the topography of the house as he had earlier worked as a servant on the third floor of the same property four years ago.
Further investigation into the murder is undereway.
