Maharashtra: College Teen Found Dead Near Lake In Navi Mumbai, Suspect Boyfriend Jumps Off

Navi Mumbai News: The strangulated body of a 19-year-old woman was found in the mangroves near a jetty adjacent to DPS Lake, on Wednesday evening. Police suspect that the victim, Bhavika More (19) was strangulated by her boyfriend, Swastik Patel (21).
Patel was seen jumping into the lake and is feared to have drowned, said the police, adding he is yet to be traced, reported the Times of India.
More was a student at a junior college and Patel worked at a medical store according to the preliminary investigation by the police, the two had arrived at the Nerul Jetty on their bike.

The boy is believed to have strangled her and, following this, he too jumped into the lake, the officer said.
Local fishermen visiting the jetty near DPS Public School found the body of the victim. They also informed the police that they saw a youth jumping off the jetty at around 4:30 pm, said, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Pankaj Dahane.
The fishermen tried to rescue the youth but he was swept by the running stream due to low tide after which they informed the NRI coastal police about the youth as well as the woman they found lying motionless about 50 metres away.
The woman was rushed to a hospital but declared brought dead, the DCP said.
The victim was identified by her Aadhar card in her handbag that was found at the crime scene. Police found a scooter parked near the jetty. As per the information obtained from the Regional Transport Office (RTO), the scooter owner was a friend of Patil who had borrowed his scooter to meet Bhavika.
Dahane said that the CCTV footage from Palm Beach Road showed Bahvika and Swastik on the scooter, adding that the murder motive is not yet known.
A murder case would be registered against Swastik who is feared drown and the search operation was stopped at the lake after sunset, said the DCP, adding that it will resume on Thursday.
