Mumbai News: Four Mumbai police personnel were suspended for allegedly fabricating a drug case against a man. The incident was caught on CCTV footage and has sparked outrage that led to an investigation. From the CCTV video, it could be seen that one of the officers placed an object in the pocket of the man before arresting him. Initially, the man was charged with having 20 grams of mephedrone but he was later released after the video came to light, Lokmat Times reported.
As per a report by Lokmat Times, Senior police officials have ordered an inquiry into this case. Senior Inspector Mohan Mane of Khar police station confirmed that the man named Daniel was initially detained based on received information but was released when nothing was found in his possession. Mane has assured a thorough investigation into the incident.
Mumbai Man's Employer Alleges Conspiracy By Builders And Local Politicians:
Shahbaz Khan, an employer of Daniel at an animal farm in Kalina, claimed the incident was part of a broader conspiracy involving builders and local politicians attempting to take over his land. Khan claimed he had received threats a month before the incident.
"I have been looking after this land for 40 years. This whole incident is a conspiracy by builders and local politicians to harass us. I was threatened with a drug case a month ago. But on Friday evening, when I was at home, this incident took place. Daniel, who works for me, was framed," Khan said, as per the report.
Khan further explained that four officers from Khar police station arrived at his home around 6 p.m. on Friday. "When I reviewed the CCTV footage, it clearly showed an officer planting something in the pocket of Daniel and then removing it to arrest him. After the footage went viral, he was released at 9 p.m.," Khan said.
"Senior Inspector Mohan Mane of Khar police station told me that the person was traced based on information and released when nothing was found on him. When I enquired them about planting something in Daniel's pocket, they fell silent and said they would investigate the matter," he added, as quoted by Lokmat Times.
