A disturbing video has come to the fore from Madhya Pradesh's Katni where railway policemen were seen brutally thrashing a teen and his grandmother. The incident was caught on CCTV camera and has been w, widely shared on social media sparking outrage among several quarters. 


In the CCTV footage, the 2-3 policemen could be seen grabbing the 15-year-old boy with his hair and beating him with a stick. Another man who is not in uniform could be seen pulling the boy's hair and shaking his head. 


After some a woman was seen beating the elderly woman and dragging her on the floor, grabbing her hair. 


The police asked the boy about his father, and when he said he did not know about his father's whereabouts, he was taken to the traffic inspector's office, the teen said, reported NDTV. They then beat me up. They also hit my grandmother. They said my father has started stealing a lot," said the boy. 






"My father is only a labourer," he told the reporters. 


Katni Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhijeet Kumar Ranjan said that an investigation has been launched headed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Santosh Deharia to verify the video. 


Taking cognisance of the matter, Madhya Pradesh police said that the video is from 2023 and after the incident came to light, the station in-charge was attached to GRP Police Line, Jabalpur. The Police Headquarters have ordered a DIG level officer to go to Katni and investigate the incident, said the police in a post on X.


Oppn Slams BJP Govt  


Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party saying that Dalit oppression has become the party's "biggest weapon". "The government is also leaving no stone unturned in oppressing the backward/tribals! This game of political malice must stop" he added. 


Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh said that the BJP was taking "revenge" for its political defeat from Dalits, backward classes, and tribals.
